Dispute Over Court Reporter Fees

GSRA Response

GSRA believes it is important to respond to its members regarding recent events which have occurred regarding WSB Reporter Richard Belcher's story regarding court reporters for Cobb County Superior Court. Kathy Sherwood, GSRA President, has been in constant contact with SueLynn Morgan, NCRA’s President, and key court reporters in Cobb County Superior Court and outside counsel specializing in press and crisis management situations.

We want our members to know that we are keeping abreast of the situation but feel it would be improper to indulge in too much speculation around this story as there is an ongoing investigation with the Cobb County Grand Jury. GSRA endeavors to keep its members informed and will stand behind them with the best available resources and personnel.

We understand that knee-jerk reactions to stories like this often cause more problems than creating solutions, so that is why we are making strategic responses to press inquiries. We will continue to give our membership updates as necessary and appropriate. GSRA also respects the Cobb reporters' desire for patience and support as they deal with this internal issue.

GSRA understands the importance of responding to misinformation and setting the record straight, and we want our members to know that we are working on making that happen. The role of your association is to respond to such issues and we take that job very seriously. We understand that this has larger implications as well, and we’re working to make sure that we protect and advocate for your jobs and profession. That is the value of your GSRA membership!

Please stay tuned and if you would like to assist in the effort please contact me directly.
